Easy Summer Drink Recipes

CITRUS FLOAT: Fill a pitcher with water and floating lemon and lime slices.  Wash the lemons and limes before slicing.  No need to add sugar.  The water will naturally be infused with a crisp citrus taste.

FRESH FRUIT PUNCH: You can easily mix any sweet-tasting, seasonal fruit in a high-torque blender (like a Nutribullet) with water, add a bit of sugar to taste, and serve as a homemade fruit punch.

  • Peaches and nectarines are easy choices because they are so easy to cut up and put into the blender — a little bit of lemon juice added to the mixer keeps the beautiful color overnight.
  • Watermelon or cantaloupe are also great fruits to use if you want a smooth-looking punch without little fruit skin specks.
  • Rhubarb makes a delicious rich red punch – recipe here.

FUN PARTY CHOICE: Macy’s Culinary Council Chef Johnny Iuzzini says “The night before your party, use the largest container you have and fill it with water to make a giant ice cube. On the day of, make a concoction of herbs, fruits and vegetables” combined with a light flavored water or light lemonade.  “Place the ice cube in a bowl and pour the punch mixture around it. The large ice cube will not melt down and dilute the punch, but will keep it cold and refreshing. It also serves as an eye-catching centerpiece that everyone at the party will talk about.”

And here’s some retro-inspired updates to your beverage glasses (hint: the hot new colors are blue and green).
